My Quality
In my projects, I'm always willing to give my best. To me, it is important to deliver an exceptional service or product. My continuous improvement process is targeted to meet the customer's expectations in the best possible and most efficient way.
From the development process to the finished product, it includes everyone involved, from the supplier to the customer.
My Music
I'm very passionate about music in general, but what fascinates me most are the endless possibilities. Whether you learn an instrument or chain up studio gear to get the sound you want, there will always be something you haven't tried before. With analog instruments it's the physics of the material, and in a DAW it's the settings, tempo and so on that you choose to get your sound right. Music offers endless possibilities and can transport every feeling.
Every person has a different taste, and nobody will feel exactly what you experience, and still it connects so many people. I would describe my style as a mostly bass-focused sound experience, ranging from dub to hip-hop to drum and bass and more.
My Journey
MBZ.Music is a multimedia, media-technology-based project. I started making music and learning about its different forms very early.
Growing up, I was always very interested in audio technology and the whole process from recording to playing music. While playfully learning how to make beats with DAWs and analog gear, my journey brought me to media technology studies, where I learned a lot about the technology behind audio and video.
My Bio
I was born in the maritime city of Hamburg, but grew up in the northern part of Bremen. In my youth I was very interested in all kinds of sports like basketball, soccer, tennis, skateboarding and many more. I also had a great passion for music. In my early days I learned to play the piano and a little bit of guitar. Being taught by a teacher wasn't exactly the way I wanted to learn making music, and the possibilities of those instruments seemed very limited to me.
When I was about 12 years old, I got my first copy of Propellerheads Reason 2.0. After playing around for about a year without getting a sound out of the program, I slowly got into beatmaking: first by working with samples out of the box, later by recording my own samples to make them sound like they were sampled.
Throughout my teenage years, music and sports were always present, and I enjoyed that time a lot. We were part of a big community with a lot of people that I still know today. While still in Bremen, I started making music as "Mastabeatz".
After finishing school, I went to Munich to study electrical engineering for half a year, but my prior knowledge of the topic wasn't good enough to keep up with the other students. Realizing that my heart had always been with music, I went back to Bremen for half a year to help build up a rock'n'roll recording studio with a lot of analog gear. That was a fascinating process for me.
After that, I went to the beautiful city of Groningen to study biology and medical research. Next to a lot of very good experiences, the "mbz.music" or "mastabeatz.music" movement started out in the "Parkweg 25" studio.
In the end, making music led me to study media technology at the Hochschule Emden/Leer. There I focused on mixing and mastering and on the technology and electrical circuits behind them. During my studies I also learned a lot about coding, web, light, audio, video and 3D.
